With the advent of globalization and the spectacular growth of Information Technology, the international Business has entered into new vistas, with multidimensional complexities and opportunities ranging from the core sector to expanding service sector. This has necessitated Scientific Cultivation of skills, knowledge and application of Managerial art, information Management, development of macroeconomic Model. With this backdrop, the NIT Durgapur, a premier institute of national importance under the MHRD, GOI organized the 1st International Conference on Business & Information Management (ICBIM-2012), which provided an interactive platform for exchanging views among academicians and corporate executives on emerging issues. Research papers presented in the conference have been published in international proceedings.
The 2nd Conference, namely 2nd International Conference on Business & Information Management (ICBIM-2014) will be held from 9th to 11th January 2014 with the presentation of keynote address by distinguished professors from abroad and India, along with scholars from academia and corporate sectors. The conference will cover topics related to Business Management, Computer Applications and Information Management, Petroleum Management, Oil Economics, Mineral Economics, Communicative English, Economics.
Established in 1960 as Regional Engineering College and subsequently transformed into a National Institute of Technology in 2004 under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, India (NITD) has evolved during last five decades, as a significant seat of teaching - learning environment for technical education. Through operationalization of NIT ACT in August 2007, NITD has now been accorded the status of Institute of National Importance in India.
Transition from a Regional Engineering College to a National Institute of Technology with full academic autonomy has led to a paradigm shift in its focus with significant emphasis being presently imparted on project oriented research and collaboration with industries. These facets of technical education are also being integrated with the formal curricula of various regular academic programs of the Institute. Situated in the nucleus of the major industrial hub of West Bengal, NITD has an inherent advantage in this perspective.
NITD has also been working as a lead Institute under the purview of World Bank assisted Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP). Through the ongoing process of formal as well as informal networking, NITD envisages to actively participate and act as a catalyst in the accelerated industrial growth of our nation.
The city of Durgapur is recognized as one of the fastest developing Tier II cities in the national scenarios. Situated at a distance of about 180 KMs from Kolkata, Durgapur is located right on the major railway and expressway connecting Kolkata to Delhi. Kolkata can be reached from Durgapur (and vice versa) in about 2 hrs. 30 mins. through expressway.
